The port of Trieste hosts the first “Trieste Intermodal Day-TID”

Trieste, 9 September 2019 – Technology, innovation, environment, society, ideas, business: all this and more will be the focus of “Trieste Intermodal Day – TID” to be held on Thursday, 19 September at Magazzino 42 at the Trieste Maritime Station. This is an incubator focusing on the issues of European logistics and intermodality in the future, which encourages free discussion and features leading international speakers. Arising out of the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea’s desire to stage an event that could bring to Trieste all of the main players on the international logistics scene, TID is inspired by the famous TED (Technology Entertainment and Design) conference format from the United States, which stresses a relationship with the audience that is different from that of traditional conferences and encourages “cross-contamination”. In this manner, scientific and technological aspects, business models, information technology, artificial intelligence, and philosophy will all intervene in Trieste to “cross-contaminate” the conference’s vision of the logistics and intermodality of the future.

About 300 guests are expected at the Port of Trieste for this English-language event, which shall take place on 19 September. Participants will include CEOs, presidents, and other leading executives from Italian and international businesses who are interested in hearing wide-ranging discussions on the future of logistics and connectivity, set to the music of the European Spirit of Youth Orchestra – ESYO, featuring talented young musicians from throughout Europe, in keeping with the spirit of the event. TID’s goal is to inspire and create new perspectives, launching an annual gathering of leading professionals, scientists, opinion leaders, and innovators who can bring back vision and new perspectives to Trieste and the surrounding region.

“We are proud to introduce the first Trieste Intermodal Day, an event that fully reflects the nature of the Port of Trieste” explains Zeno D’Agostino, President of the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea. “TID, much like our port, is a constantly growing international model of connectivity that can bring together people and ideas in a central, creative incubator, where inspiration does not stand still, but is instead projected onto an increasingly wider European and global hinterland. Thanks to the Trieste Intermodal Day we hope to involve, inspire, provide food for thought, and promote new opportunities through an event that we felt was ideal for celebrating the 300th anniversary of the Free Port, a place that has always linked together people, visions, ideas, and business deals” concludes D’Agostino.

The “Trieste Intermodal Day – TID” is part of the rich bill of events organized by the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea to commemorate the institution of the Free Port on the part of Emperor Charles VI in 1719.
